Nathan Martinez Named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year

2021 All-SCIAC Football Teams

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) recently announced their All-SCIAC selections and their athletes of the year and University of Redlands graduate quarterback, Nathan Martinez (Redlands, Calif.), was selected as the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year.

Martinez helped guide the Bulldogs to an 8-1, 6-0 SCIAC record, an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III National Championships and the 2021 SCIAC Championship Title.

On the season Martinez threw for the second-most yards in the conference with 1,692, which puts him only 148 yards behind Jim Conley (1978) for 10th All-Time for passing yards in a single season in program history. He also added 12 touchdowns to only five interceptions.

His 69.8 completion percentage led the conference, ranks him No. 8 in Division III, and would best his own mark from 2019 (69.0%), which is the second-highest in a single season in program history.

Martinez also has a 165.8 pass efficiency rating, which is second in the conference and No. 20 in the nation.

On the ground, he was just as strong posting 271 yards and three touchdowns, which made him the Bulldogs third leading rusher.

Martinez and the Bulldogs continue their season with a first-round re-match at undefeated No. 6 Linfield University in McMinnville, Oregon this Saturday, November 20 with kickoff set for noon.
