REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Baseball team opened up a three-game non-conference series Friday afternoon with a 13-3 run-rule victory over Lewis & Clark.

The Bulldogs continue to look solid here in the month of April extending their winning streak to three games, two of which were run-rules.  They are now 15-10, 5-7 SCIAC.

Redlands led 10-0 after five innings and secured the win thanks to a three-run sixth. The scoring got started in the third with a solo home run to left center by Max Clark (Fontana, CA) who has gone yard in three-straight games moving his season total to eight.  After that a pair of singles from Esteban Nakashima (Riverside, CA) and Jonah Advincula (Santa Clara) put two runners on, leading to a sacrifice fly from Mark Kirkland (Redlands, CA), a Jared Anderson (Gilbert, AZ) double to left center and a Jake Burgess (Riverside, CA) base knock to right moving the score to 5-0.

The Maroon and Grey continued to add on in the fourth thanks to a three-run shot to right center from Advincula.  Three batters later Anderson connected for his second double of the game again going to left center and Burgess drove him in with a base hit up the middle making it a nine-run deficit.

An insurance run was added in the fifth for UR making it a double-digit margin.  Payton Walsh (Santa Ana, CA) led off the inning with a double to right field and advanced on a wild pitch before coming thanks to an RBI foul out by Clark to the right hand side.

The Pioneers got on the scoreboard in the sixth using a couple of timely hits to stay out of the run-rule, but it didn't last long as the Bulldogs would score three times in the bottom of the inning.  Anderson, Burgess and Max Smyley (Sarasota, FL) loaded the bases and a Walsh RBI walk, a passed ball and a sacrifice fly from Luke De Vries (Irvine, CA) would make it a 13-2 margin.  L&C tried to come back with a run in the seventh with J. Thomson collecting a homerun, but it wouldn't be enough to stall the run-rule as UR would hold on for the lopsided victory.

Tyler Reiter (San Diego, CA) pitched his best game of the season allowing seven hits with five walks, five strikeouts, and two runs (both unearned) across six innings as he picked up his third win on the season.

The Bulldogs have now hit the double-digit mark in hits and runs in a single game for the 15th time this season and are now 14-1 in those contests.  This afternoon they scored 13 runs on 15 hits.

Advincula (3-for-4), the reigning D3baseball.com Team of the Week and SCIAC Hitter of the Week, Kirkland (2-for-3), Anderson (2-for-3), Burgess (3-for-3), and Clark (2-for-2) all had multi-hit games.

Redlands wraps up the series with Lewis & Clark tomorrow, Saturday, April 9 with a doubleheader at The Yard.  First pitches set for 11:00am and 2:30pm.
