2022 University of Redlands Cross Country Schedule

REDLANDS, Calif. – University of Redlands Head Cross Country Coach Mike Schmidt released his 2022 schedule Friday, which includes four invites and a pair of trips to Minneapolis, MN and Spokane, WA. 

The Bulldogs are coming off a strong 2021 campaign where the women finished fourth and the men fifth at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships.  The teams then traveled over to Claremont, Calif. for the NCAA Division III West Regional where the women took seventh and the men tenth.  Then to cap off the year Tucker Cargile and Isabella Glenn both qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships with Cargile coming away as an NCAA Division III All-American.   

Redlands, who reports on Sunday, August 21 will open their season on Saturday, September 3 when they host the annual Redlands Invitational beginning at 8:00am.

Men

Among the returning athletes on the men's side is Rogelio Salcido, who ran the 18th fastest time in school history last season at the Highlander Invitational with a 25:58.0. 

Other notable performers in 2021 included Brandon Farnsworth who finished 60th (27:05.60) at the SCIAC Championships and 85th at the NCAA Division III West Regional. A third returner to watch is Nolan Brown, who as a first-year was able to qualify for the NCAA Division III West Regional taking advantage of the opportunity with a 47th-place finish and a time of 26.30.80, which was 2:08.7 faster than his SCIAC Championship time.

Women

On the women's side the Bulldogs return a key runner from last season in Chloe Bullock who is the lone All-SCIAC (2nd Team) returner on either team. Bullock holds the 5th fastest 5K time (18:28.1) and the 7th fastest 6K time (22:19.3) in school history, both coming in 2021 as a first-year.

The Bulldogs return a pair of runners who finished inside the Top-50 at the SCIAC Championships. The first is Bullock who took 19th at the SCIAC Championships then 28th at the NCAA Division III West Regional. Sheriane Greene is the second returner that was a top-50 finisher as she ran a 24:24.2, which put her in 46th

Redlands Invitational (Sep. 3): In 2021 the Bulldogs were runners-up on the men's side and the winners on the women's … The men tied for their best finish from 2018 and it was the first win for the women since 2016.

UC Riverside Invitational (Sep. 17): The men took tenth and the women fifth in 2021. 

Roy Griak Invite (Oct. 1): The only time competing in this invite was in 2019 where the Bulldogs took 13th (Men) and 14th (Women).  

UCR Highlander Invitational (Oct. 15): Came in 21st (Men) and 16th (Women) in 2021 … Their best finishes were eighth and ninth in 2019.

SCIAC Championships (Oct. 29): The men took tenth and the women seventh in 2021 … Since 2007 the men have posted a pair of third place finishes in this event coming in 2007 and 2019, while the women's would take second in 2010 and 2015.

NCAA West Regional Championships (Nov. 12): The men took tenth and the women seventh in 2021 … The best team finishes since 2007 was fourth for the men (2018) and fourth for the women (2019).

NCAA Championships (Nov. 19): Tucker Cargile finished 36th and Isabella Glenn was 117th in 2021 … The highest individual finishes since 2007 was Cargile in 2019 when he came in 24th and in 2011 when Emily Canales took 64th.
