Redlands Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams Perform Well at Roy Griak Invitational

Members of the University of Redlands men's and women's cross country teams competed at the infamous Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, on Saturday morning. The event featured eight different races that included athletes from all college divisions, high schools, and club teams. Redlands competed exceptionally well against a plethora of Division II and III schools and some clubs.

In the men's 8k, the Bulldogs took 13th out of 28 teams. Junior Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) paced the Maroon and Gray by taking 10th out of 309 runners with an impressive time of 25:42.2.

First-year Enrique Verschoor (Mar del Plata, Argentina) crossed the finish line at the 27:02.3-mark, while first-year Rogelio Salcido (Beaumont, CA) finished just 37 seconds later. The pair took 50th and 81st place, respectively.

Next came first-year Brandon Farnsworth (Palos Verdes Estates, CA), sophomore Miguel Fausto (Whittier, CA), junior Quentin Olive-Larson (Fort Collins, CO), and first-year Aaron Selikovitz (Los Angeles, CA). Farnsworth ran the fastest of the quartet with a 111th-place finish in 28:07.8. Fausto posted a time of 28:11.9, Olive-Larson stopped the clock at 28:30.3, and Selikovitz finished in 204th with a time of 30:00.4.

The Bulldog women's team snagged 14th place out of 32 teams and clubs in the 6k. Senior Maria Ramirez (Orange, CA) led the way, clocking in at 24:00.8 to finish 53rd out of 375 competitors.

Sophomore Isabella Glenn (Seattle, WA), senior Carly Veasy (Camas, WA), and sophomore Alexis Wallace (Orangevale, CA) crossed the finish line next, all about 11 seconds apart from one another. Glenn clocked a time of 24:42.2 to take the 106th spot. Veasy posted a time of 24:54.9, while Wallace stopped the clock at 25:05.5 and 128th place.

Senior Sarah Shipway (Lafayette, CA), first-year Sheriane Greene (Grass Valley, CA), and senior Karli Stichter (Tustin, CA) rounded out the Bulldog women's runners. Shipway raced a 25:29.4 for 161st place. Greene crossed the line as the clock read 25:55.0, while Stitcher finished at the 27:01.1-minute mark.

Redlands jumps back into action at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, October 12, at 7:30 a.m.
