THOUSDAND OAKS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team closed out the 2022 season Wednesday afternoon on the road in a 14-7 loss to Cal Lutheran University inside the Samuelson Aquatics Center.

The Maroon and Grey finish off the season winning three of their last four moving to 8-13, 5-9 SCIAC.  They also finish in a tie for 6th Place within the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings and were a game out of fifth.

Holly Kvanvig (Beaverton, OR) got the Bulldogs off on the right foot with a goal :44 seconds into the game.  Courtney Sawin (Tacoma, WA) extended it to 2-0 on U of R's next possession, but that lead would evaporate as Cal Lutheran would settle in with four unanswered soon after, moving the score to 4-2.  Redlands took the momentum right back at the 2:07 mark thanks to Kvanvig who made it a one-score game with an unassisted tally.  This carried over into the 2nd Quarter as the Bulldogs would lock down defensively allowing just one CLU goal the entire period, which came with under a minute to play in the half.  This goal would break a 4-4 tie because freshman Sydney Sereg (Fullerton, CA) would convert inside set under four minutes to play.

The difference came in the 3rd Quarter where the Bulldogs were outscored 6-1, which turned the contest from a one-goal game into a six-goal deficit.  Hannah Long (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) was the lone score for Redlands finding the back of the goal as time expired in the period.

Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA) and Sereg tried to build some momentum in the 4th Quarter for the Maroon and Grey picking up another two scores, but it wasn't enough to pull off the road upset as they would fall 14-7.

Kvanvig and Sereg each notched braces for the game and Sawin, Long, and Parker each chipped in with a goal. Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA) again played all 32:00 minutes in goal.
