REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team capped off their three-game week with a non-conference home game against Division I University of Pacific on Sunday morning at the Thompson Aquatic Center (TAC).

The Bulldogs kept it close through three quarters but saw the Tigers pull away late for the 14-7 victory stopping the comeback attempt.

In the first half Redlands was unable to muster much on offense with just one goal coming from Breanna Bailey (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) in the 2nd Quarter.  The deficit then increased to six with UOP scoring on their first possession out of the half.  But after that it was all Redlands with Christine Chua (Arcadia, CA) scoring off a Katrina Nielsen (Houston, TX) assist for the second goal of the game.

This led to the Bulldogs scoring three of the next four goals as they got within four, 8-4, with 1:53 left in the quarter. During the run Chua scored twice with both assists coming from Nielsen and then Bailey found the back of the net for the second time thanks to a feed from Anika Lundbaek (San Anselmo, CA).

Pacific ended the run to start off the 4th Quarter scoring three times covering 3:01 as they grew their lead to seven at 11-4.  After another two tallies from UOP, the Bulldogs found their offense once again thanks to Kaitlynn Pierceall (Beaumont, CA) who sparked a comeback with a connection before setting up Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA) for her first of the game. Parker then added her second straight tally with :04 seconds left as she finished off a rebound in front of the goal that cut the deficit in half.  But the second half push wouldn't be enough as UR would fall 14-7.

The Bulldogs were aggressive with 25 shots with 15 of them being on-goal.  They forced double-digit turnovers and recorded ten steals. Nielsen (two assists), Bailey (two goals), Pierceall (one goal, one assist), Chua (two goals, one assist), and Parker (two goals) all turned in productive games as they all contributed to multiple goals.

Defensively, Redlands had six players with a steal, including two from Danielle Cary (Riverside, CA) and Pierceall and another three from keeper Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA).  Zielinski also kept the game close recording 10 saves with multiple stops coming on one-on-one break chances for the Tigers. She had a .417 save percentage on the game.

Redlands earns a break for five days before traveling to take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps next Saturday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m.
