The University of Redlands women's water polo team took the trip to Thousand Oaks to face Cal Lutheran University in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) contest on Wednesday afternoon. Although the Bulldogs jumped on the board first, the Regals regained the lead and never looked back, sending Redlands home with a 4-7 loss.

Junior center Kolby Kahahawai (Kailua, HI) gave Redlands the lead just a minute and a half into the game off a precise pass from junior attacker Katelyn Jenkins (Bellevue, WA).

However, CLU answered the call with three-straight scores.

Jenkins worked to even the tally by scoring a power-play goal off an assist from first-year attacker Katelynn Holloman (Wildomar, CA).

The second period included outstanding defense, as neither team added any goals.

After a short halftime break, the Regals broke out the offense, scoring three in the third, while Redlands struggled to find its offensive rhythm.

Senior defender Stefanie Goldbach (Huntington Beach, CA) fired one past the CLU goalkeeper to open the fourth and narrow the gap to 3-6.

However, the Regals answered right back with a score.

Kahahawai bookended the day with her second goal of the game, with this one coming off a pass from senior attacker Michelle Na (Mercer Island, WA), for a final tally of 4-7.

First-year Kelly Klish (Glenview, IL), sophomore attacker Olivia Allen (Santa Monica, CA), Jenkins, and Kahahawai each recorded one steal.

Redlands women's water polo (2-10, 1-1 SCIAC) is set to take on conference foe Caltech on Saturday, March 10, in an 11 a.m. start at the Thompson Aquatic Center. The Bulldogs also head to Cal Baptist University in Riverside that same day for a 6 p.m. tilt against the Lancers.
