Redlands Women's Water Polo Falls to Pomona-Pitzer

The University of Redlands women's water polo team squared off against the Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens in Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match at the Thompson Aquatic Center.  After a tough start, the Bulldogs struggled to recover and ultimately fell in a 3-15 decision.

Pomona-Pitzer jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, creating an uphill battle for the home team.  Although the Bulldogs pulled two back with netters from sophomore utility player Rachel Nelson (San Juan Capistrano, CA) and sophomore center Kolby Kahahawai (Kailua, HI), they faced a 2-5 deficit at the end of one period.

The Sagehens pulled away in the subsequent three frames, with Redlands mustering only one more goal by the end of the game.  Junior attack player Michelle Na (Mercer Island, WA) notched a late-game score en route to the team's 3-15 loss.

Sophomore goalkeepers Katelyn Jenkins (Bellevue, WA) and Kelly Grosswendt (Newbury Park, CA) split time in the cage and recorded 10 saves collectively.

Redlands (7-18, 2-2 SCIAC) heads to Whittier College on Wednesday, April 5, for a conference bout against the Poets.  First whistle is set for 7 p.m.
