PASADENA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Volleyball team wrapped up their three-match week Saturday afternoon falling in straight sets 25-14, 25-9, 25-13 to Caltech on the road.

Redlands continues to search for their first win of 2022 as they drop to 0-9, 0-5 SCIAC, while Caltech improves to 5-5, 2-3 SCIAC.

The Bulldogs opened up the match hitting .174 and did a great job of keeping their attacks in play committing just three errors. The challenge was getting those offensive opportunities as the Beavers hit .483 with 17 kills and three errors as they would take the opening stanza 25-14.

In the second set the Bulldogs struggled offensively posting nine errors, while hitting -.100 (six kills).  The defense improved, holding CIT to a .370 hitting percentage, but the Beavers only committed one error, not giving away any free points allowing them to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Redlands made some more improvements defensively in the third set, but again the Beavers only had three hitting errors. This created a challenge for the Maroon and Grey offensively as they would find it difficult to win points consistently, picking up just seven kills.

Despite the lack of offense, the Bulldogs committed just 19 hitting errors, their second fewest inside conference play, there twelve at No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps last Tuesday was their cleanest game of the season.

Eight different Bulldogs recorded a kill with Kiana Stradford (Mission Viejo, CA) posting a team-high five kills. Kylie Martin (Centennial, CO)Katie Allbery (Spokane, WA)Avery Heidebrecht (Portland, OR)Paige Sugg (Federal Way, WA), and Avery Aminoff (Alexandria, VA) all had multiple kills.
