Redlands Women's Tennis Climbs to No. 27 on ITA/Oracle Division III Rankings

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its most recent Oracle/Division III polls and the University of Redlands women's tennis team jumped up 10 spots to claim No. 27 in the country. In the process, the Bulldogs moved ahead of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foe, Chapman University, in the West Region rankings to claim the No. 7 slot.

Despite losing to the now No. 3 Middlebury College and giving the now No. 18 Caltech a run for their money, the Bulldogs bounced back to win their last two matches over Gustavus Adolphus University and Cal Lutheran University.

In the Maroon and Gray's 4-5 battle against Caltech, senior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) and first-year Halle Martinucci (Burlingame, CA) highlighted the effort by taking down the previous No. 6 duo in the West Region, 8-7 (7-5). With their impressive play as of late, Martinucci and Johnson moved up one spot to seventh among the best doubles teams. The pair is 8-5 on the season and 6-4 in the last 10 matches, all on the No. 1 court.

In singles action, senior Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) paces the squad with a 7-1 overall record and a clean 3-0 showing against SCIAC competition, primarily from the No. 6 position. She is currently on a three-match win streak.
