The No. 26 University of Redlands women's tennis team jumped into action on Tuesday morning by taking on Rhodes College (TN) in non-conference action.  With a well-balanced effort throughout both lineups, the Bulldogs shined in the 6-3 victory on Verdieck Courts.

Redlands scored the first point of the match with an 8-2 result off the rackets of first-year Danya Wallis (Poulsbo, WA) and senior Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) at No. 3 doubles.  Senior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) and first-year Halle Martinucci (Burlingame, CA) kept things rolling at No. 1 with a win by the same score.

Although the Lynx eked out a victory at No. 2, the Bulldogs entered the singles with a 2-1 advantage.

Sophomore Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) set the tone early for the Maroon and Gray by topping her No. 4 opponent, 6-3, 6-2, before sophomore Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) took care of business at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-1 showing.  Wallis officially sealed the deal for the Bulldogs' triumph by defeating the No. 6 opponent in a 6-2, 6-2 effort.

In addition, Dolan registered a hard-fought 7-6, 4-6, 10-8 victory at No. 5 singles.

Redlands (2-2) faces the University of Mary Washington (VA) on Thursday, March 7, at 2 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
