After a rain delay, the No. 26 University of Redlands women's tennis team hit the courts for a pair of exhibition matches on Saturday against non-Division III foes, Concordia University – Irvine and Westmont College.  Although the Bulldogs lost both, they gained solid experience against quality competition.

The Maroon and Gray saw sophomore Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) prevail in her singles match against Westmont by cruising to a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4.

In addition, first-year Halle Martinucci (Burlingame, CA) put up a solid showing in her collegiate debut at No. 1 singles against Concordia and at No. 2 against Westmont.  In addition, she teamed up with senior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) in doubles, as the duo registered scores of 8-5 and 8-4 in the losses.

Redlands heads to UC San Diego on Saturday, February 16, for an 11 a.m. non-conference match against the NCAA Division I opponent.
