No. 26 Redlands Women's Tennis Drops to No.7 Pomona-Pitzer To Exit SCIAC Postseason Tournament

The No. 26 University of Redlands women's tennis team ended its Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Tournament run with a tough road match at No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Friday afternoon. Despite putting up a respectable fight, the Bulldogs came up on the wrong side of a shortened, 0-5, decision.

Both duos of sophomore Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) and junior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) and first-years Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) and Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) put up the tightest scores in doubles with two, 3-8 losses.

Kobayashi also battled in singles by taking three games off of her opponent in the first set and was up 3-2 in the second before Pomona-Pitzer won its fifth match, ending Kobayashi's run.

Redlands (11-11, 5-1 SCIAC) holds out hope for possible consideration at the NCAA Championships as a team or as individuals.  The NCAA's announcement is scheduled for Monday, May 7 for teams and Wednesday, May 9 for individuals.
