The No. 35 University of Redlands women's tennis team jumped back into the win column on Saturday with a 7-2 victory over No. 34 East Texas Baptist University in Georgetown, TX.  The Bulldogs snagged two of the doubles matches and then rolled through five of the six singles for the win.

The Maroon and Gray put the first point on the board when sophomore Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) and junior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) rolled to an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 spot.  Sophomore Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) and junior Madison Ross (San Diego, CA) kept things going with an 8-4 win at No. 2.

Although the Tigers outlasted the Bulldogs in a tiebreaker at No. 3, Redlands held a 2-1 advantage as the match headed into singles.

Lacy extended the lead with her efficient 6-0, 6-1 showing at No. 3, while Ross followed suit at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-2 decision.

With a 4-1 lead, the Bulldogs put this one in the books when first-year Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) captured a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 4.

In addition, Ikioka and Johnson recorded straight-set wins at Nos. 1 and 2.

Unfortunately, the Bulldogs' second match of the day against No. 24 Southwestern University (TX) was postponed due to rain.  The teams hope to make up the contest later this month when the Pirates head west to Southern California for Spring Break.

Redlands (4-2) returns home to Verdieck Courts on Thursday, March 8, for a non-conference match against the No. 15 University of Mary Washington (VA) at 2 p.m.
