No. 25 Redlands Women's Tennis Falters to No. 2 CMS in SCIAC Match

The No. 25 University of Redlands women's tennis team squared off against the No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Athenas in Friday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match on Verdieck Courts.  With heart and tenacity, the Bulldogs put up a solid fight but fell short of the upset in a 0-9 result.

Freshman Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) battled at the top slot in singles by forcing a tiebreak in the opening set.  Unfortunately, her momentum stopped there as she suffered a 7-6(3), 6-0 loss.  Sophomore Madison Ross (San Diego, CA) also showed grit by forcing her No. 6 counterpart to go the distance in a three-setter defeat, 4-6, 6-1, 10-3.

Redlands (5-10, 2-2 SCIAC) strives to bounce back on Saturday, April 8, when it travels to Seal Beach Tennis Club to face Chapman University in a conference match at 11:30 a.m.
