No. 28 Bulldog Women's Tennis Falters to No. 14 Sewanee in Non-Conference Action

The No. 28 University of Redlands women's tennis team finished up a busy week of action by hosting the No. 14 Sewanee: University of the South on Saturday in a non-conference match on Verdieck Courts.  After avoiding the doubles sweep, the Bulldogs battled in singles but collected only one point en route to the 2-7 loss to the Tigers.

Sewanee charged out to a 2-0 lead in the doubles competitions before Redlands eked out a hard-fought win at the No. 1 slot.  Freshman Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) and sophomore Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) muscled out a 9-8(5) for the Bulldogs' first point of the match.

In singles, the Tigers regained the momentum and snagged wins at all positions but No. 5, where freshman Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) outlasted her opponent, who had to retire after a 7-6(5), 5-5 showing.

Redlands (1-8) is slated to host No. 37 Carleton College (MN) on Wednesday, March 22, in a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
