The No. 21 University of Redlands women's tennis team headed off campus for the first time in more than a month, competing against the University of La Verne in Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match . The Bulldogs rolled to a 9-0 victory with impressive results.
In doubles, the Maroon and Gray gained an 8-2 win at the No. 3 slot by senior Gabriela Vasquez (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) and junior Emily Murnin (Salt Lake City, UT). The No. 2 tandem of freshmen Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) and Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) rattled off an 8-1 triumph, before seniors Natalie Etchegaray (Placentia, CA) and Lauren Villanueva (El Segundo, CA) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 effort.
In singles, Murnin blanked her No. 2 opponent, which set up Johnson's clinching performance at No. 4, 6-0, 6-2.
Redlands gained additional victories by Etchegaray at No. 1, Vasquez at No. 5, Dolan at No. 6, Villanueva at No. 3.
The Bulldogs (12-5, 4-0 SCIAC) head to third-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Friday, April 8, for a 3 p.m. match against the Athenas.
