No. 21 Redlands Women's Tennis Falls to No. 17 Wesleyan University

The No. 21 University of Redlands women's tennis team took on the No. 17 Wesleyan University (CT) Cardinals in a non-conference match on Thursday but suffered a 2-7 loss on Verdieck Courts.  After being swept in doubles for the first time this season, the Bulldogs struggled to respond in singles, earning just two wins.

The Maroon and Gray fought through the doubles but came up short in all three matches. 

Senior Lauren Villanueva (El Segundo, CA) shined in her singles match, prevailing over her No. 3 opponent by scores of 6-2, 6-3.  Freshman Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) also came away with a victory by going the distance in a 6-3, 1-6, 10-8 performance.

Senior Gabriela Vasquez (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) split the first two sets of her match at No. 5 but came up short in the match tiebreak, 10-2.

Redlands (6-2) welcomes No. 10 Washington University – St. Louis (MO) to Verdieck Courts on Saturday, March 12, at 11 a.m.
