The University of Redlands women's soccer headed to Caltech on Saturday morning for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup. Despite a 0-0 tie at the half, the Bulldog offense got hot in the second to take the game, 2-0.

The Maroon and Gray tested the Caltech keeper early and often as junior defender Abby Nordquist (Gig Harbor, WA) blasted a shot on goal in the second minute. Junior forward Emily Falla (Woodinville, WA) followed suit with an attempt just over a minute later.

Nordquist bookended the onslaught of offense with a header on target at 6:21 but once again, the Caltech goalie made the stop.

The Bulldogs peppered the goal six more times in the first but to no avail, heading into halftime with a 0-0 tie.

Redlands opened the second, in the same way, they started the first, but this time the attempt was successful. As Falla worked the ball down the right flank, she found junior midfielder Eva Vlassopoulos (Portland, OR) in the middle of the box. Vlassapoulos finished the sequence, netting the Bulldog's first score in the 48th minute.

Vlassapoulos also had a good look in the 58th minute but it nicked off the near post.

Moments later, Falla took advantage of a solid run and found the back of the net herself for a 2-0 Redlands' lead.

The Maroon and Gray continued to apply pressure in the final 30 minutes but the shots were stopped. As time ran out, the Bulldogs walked off the field with a solid, 2-0 win.

Redlands (5-3-3, 2-1-3 SCIAC) returns home on Wednesday, October 9, to battle Chapman University on Farquhar Field at 7 p.m.
