The University of Redlands women's soccer team dropped a tough, 1-5 loss in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup at No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday morning.

The Bulldogs began the game with great momentum, as senior forward Gabby Hart (Burien, WA) nearly buried a shot that banged off the crossbar at the 17:33-mark.

Hart continued to make an impact by sending fellow senior forward Alexa Groesser (Denver, CO) a through-pass down the right flank. Groesser blasted it past the diving Sagehen goalkeeper for the inaugural score of the game.

Unfortunately for Redlands, Pomona-Pitzer stepped up its play and gained a 2-1 lead by halftime.

In the second stanza, the Sagehens picked up right where they left off with a pair of goals in the first three minutes to make it 4-1.

Despite the Bulldogs showing great perseverance with a wide shot from junior forward Emily Falla (Woodinville, WA), the Sagehens connected once again in the 58th minute to extend their lead to 5-1.

The Maroon and Gray managed two more shots in the final 13 minutes of the match, but both attempts were saved by the Pomona-Pitzer goalkeeper.

Redlands (4-3-2, 1-1-1 SCIAC) returns home on Wednesday, October 2, to face No. 18 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 7 p.m. on Faculty Appreciation Night.
