Sophomores Abby Nordquist and Eva Vlassopoulos Collect Third-Team All-West Region Accolades

The United Soccer Coaches announced earlier today that sophomore defender Abby Nordquist (Gig Harbor, WA) and sophomore forward Eva Vlassopoulos (Portland, OR) landed their first-career regional honors as Third-Team members of the NCAA Division III All-West Team.

Nordquist served as an essential defender for the Bulldogs' backline that produced six shutouts; she competed in all but 14 minutes of those games.  She also played a critical role in stopping opponents' top forwards and helped Redlands to produce a goals-against average of 1.29.  Early in the season, Nordquist registered a game-winning header in the 80th minute to seal a 1-0 victory over Piedmont College (GA). She also earned First-Team All-Conference honors to highlight a quality sophomore campaign.

Vlassopoulos came on strong for the Maroon and Gray with six goals and three assists for 15 points to lead the team. Three of her goals served as game-winners in critical conference matches. She was also efficient with a solid shots-on-goal percentage of .600. Her strongest stretch came in mid-October when she scored two goals in a 2-1 win in double-overtime before providing a game-winner and an assist in a 2-0 victory over Caltech in the next game. Vlassopoulos' hot streak propelled her to a spot on the All-SCIAC First Team in her second season with the Bulldogs.
