The No. 4 University of Redlands women's soccer team took on top-seeded Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Tournament semifinal on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs gave up an early goal and struggled to answer the deficit en route to the 0-4 loss.

After Pomona-Pitzer scored its first goal just three minutes into the game, the Sagehens continued to press while limiting the Bulldogs' chances.  Sophomore midfielder Emily Falla (Woodinville, WA) registered Redlands' first shot in the 30th minute, but it was stopped by the Sagehens' goalkeeper. Less than two minutes later, sophomore midfielder Eva Vlassopoulos' (Portland, OR) blast went high, while first-year defender Rilee Mezenen (Holladay City, UT) and junior forward Gabby Hart (Sammamish, WA) unleashed shots.

The Maroon and Gray made a defensive stand late in the first half that resulted in a save by junior goalkeeper Brittany Dinkins (Renton, WA) to keep the score at 0-1.

In the first three minutes of the second half, the Bulldogs successfully denied a trio of shots by the Sagehens.

However, Pomona-Pitzer managed to break through at the 50th minute for a 2-0 lead.  Immediately after the goal, the Sagehens were awarded a penalty kick but Dinkins stepped up for a huge save.  This inspired senior forward Adi Fellows (Albuquerque, NM) to create opportunity on the other end of the field with a save-demanding shot of her own.  A few minutes later, senior defender Louisa Alstot (Portland, OR) tried her foot at an on-net attempt but the Sagehen goalkeeper made the stop.

Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Pomona-Pitzer put this one out of reach with two more goals late in the game. 

Redlands concludes a strong season with a 9-7-2 overall record and an 8-4-2 mark in conference to finish fourth in the standings. The Bulldogs also made their fourth appearance at the SCIAC Postseason Tournament since 2014.
