While out-scoring Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, 9-5, in the second half, the University of Redlands women's lacrosse team left it all on the field in Sunday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown on the road.  The Bulldogs closed out the game with a 4-0 run in the final seven-and-a-half minutes but fell short of the comeback in the must-win contest and ultimately finished the season on a 14-17 loss.

The Sagehens put together multiple scoring runs in the first half and earned leads of 3-0, 5-1, and 12-3 to force the visiting team into a significant hole.  Junior attacker Kelsey Ruhl (Seattle, WA), junior midfielder Hanna Morford (West Linn, OR), and sophomore attacker Sadie Pickering (Tacoma, WA) each scored once to account for the Maroon and Gray's offense through the 13:56-mark of the frame.  The Bulldogs made it a 5-12 score at the midway point of the game, as first-year attacker Paige Erlanger (Las Vegas, NV) worked to change the momentum with back-to-back assists on goals by sophomore attacker Charly Walter (Bethesda, MD) and senior midfielder Lacey Bjorndal (Sherwood, OR). 

Erlanger's positive impact continued in the first eight minutes of the second stanza, as she scored two goals in a 36-second span, both of which came off Morford's assists.  She fired off her third goal in five minutes to make it 8-14.  During this span, Bjorndal and first-year midfielder Kaley Holland (Seattle, WA) hauled in the critical draw controls for the Bulldogs.

Over the next 22 minutes, Redlands continued to chip away at the deficit, with Pickering's goal coming immediately after another Bjorndal draw control.  Morford, Bjorndal, and first-year attacker Amanda Levandowski (San Diego, CA) each tossed in a score, while the Bulldog defense limited the Sagehens' chances with stellar play from senior goalkeeper Quinn Egan (Greenwood Village, CO), Walter, junior defender Alexis Pound (Washington, DC), and various others. 

Beginning at the 1:42-mark on the clock, Morford earned and successfully converted a pair of free-position shots to make it 14-17 less 40 seconds later.

Despite additional, late-game scoring opportunities, the Bulldogs were denied any further offense in the season-ending result.

Bjorndal collected 11 draw controls for the fourth time this season to further etch her name in the single-game and single-season record books.

With tonight's result, Redlands completes the regular season with a 7-10 overall mark and a 3-7 showing in conference for fifth place.
