The University of Redlands women's lacrosse competed on the friendly confines of Farquhar Field for the first time this season on Saturday night, earning a solid 13-10 victory over the visiting Poets of Whittier College in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match.  After trailing by three goals, the Bulldogs erupted with a 10-1 run that extended into the second half to secure the lead and the win.

Down by a score of 1-4, the Maroon and Gray looked to the offensive accuracy of junior attack player Dulce Moll (Mercer Island, WA) to fire off back-to-back goals in less than a minute to cut the deficit to one.

Although Whittier responded with a netter, Redlands closed out the opening frame with four unanswered goals for a 7-5 advantage.  Senior midfielder Stephanie Garrett (San Diego, CA) bookended this scoring spurt while also providing an assist on junior midfielder Breanne Rideout's (San Diego, CA) goal at the 2:42-mark. Freshman midfielder Hanna Morford (West Linn, OR) capped off the Bulldogs' four-goal showing at the end of the half.

During the second stanza, sophomore midfielder Lacey Bjorndal (Sherwood, OR) kept the momentum with the Bulldogs by finding the back of the net in consecutive fashion.  First, she converted a free-position shot, before taking a good clear to the house on an assist from Morford.

Garrett finished out Redlands' impressive offensive run with two more scores over the next 10 minutes. This included the eventual game-winner, which stemmed from a quality save by sophomore goalkeeper Quinn Egan (Greenwood Village, CO) just moments before.

Although Whittier worked to trim the deficit, Garrett and Bjorndal each registered scores for the Bulldogs to keep the home team in front through the final whistle

Garrett led all players with five goals and eight draw controls.  With tonight's performance, she reset the school record for career draw controls, surpassing the previous mark by three with 255 in her four-year tenure so far.

Moll and Bjorndal each finished with a hat trick, while Morford and Rideout scored once apiece.

Defensively, senior midfielder Ellen Holt (Happy Valley, OR) provided three ground balls and three caused turnovers.  Egan patrolled the Redlands cage while making 10 saves in 60 minutes of action.

Redlands (2-1, 2-1 SCIAC) welcomes the Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens to Farquhar Field on Wednesday, March 2, for a 7 p.m. conference showdown.
