The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team's historic campaign came to an end on Saturday when it traveled to top-ranked SUNY Cortland and fell to the undefeated Red Dragons in the Third Round of the NCAA Division III Championships, 3-19. While advancing to the third round of the NCAAs for the first time in program history, the Bulldogs could not overcome an early deficit, ultimately resulting in the tough defeat.

Despite Cortland taking a quick 2-0 advantage, Redlands halved the deficit when senior midfielder Jacky Craycraft (Trabuco Canyon, CA) found the back of the net for the Maroon and Gray.

The Red Dragons (21-0) then gained control of the play and the momentum shifted into the home side's favor when Cortland scored 11-consecutive goals to take a 13-1 advantage into the halftime break.

After Cortland scored once more to open the second stanza, the U of R responded with a goal of its own when sophomore midfielder Stephanie Garrett (San Diego, CA) found senior forward KK McCaslin (Portland, OR) with a nice pass and McCaslin beat the Red Dragons' goalkeeper to give Redlands its second goal of the day.

McCaslin would score the Bulldogs' final goal of the season later in the second half off of an assist from senior forward Allie Hoffler (Draper, UT), but at that point it was too large of a deficit for the Bulldogs to mount a comeback.

McCaslin led the way for the Bulldogs with the two scores in addition to grabbing one draw control.  Craycraft, Redlands' other goal-scorer, tallied a team-high four shots with three going on frame.  Craycraft also nabbed two draw controls and one ground ball in her final game ever with the Maroon and Gray.

Garrett registered three draw controls for the game while also notching two ground balls, one caused turnover, and one assist.  Additionally, sophomore defender Sam Keary (Mission Viejo, CA) racked up a team-best three ground balls and grabbed three draw controls.

While playing the end of the first stanza and the entirety of the second half, freshman goalkeeper Gigja Hollyday (Aliso Viejo, CA) racked up an impressive nine saves.

Leading the way for the Red Dragons was Erica Geremia with five goals and three assists, while Elizabeth LaComb added a hat-trick in the win.

Redlands finishes the 2014 campaign with a 14-5 overall record, with eight wins coming on the friendly confines of Farquhar Field, and six triumphs coming in road contests.
