U of R Women's Golf Takes 4th at Bulldog Spring Classic | Jugar, Nicholson, and York finish in a tie for 9th

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Golf team improved four strokes from Day 1 of the Redlands Desert Classic going 303-299.  Despite the improvement in strokes gained they were still unable to make up any ground on the leaders, as they would finish 4th overall.

The two-day event, which took place at Desert Island Country Club, played at 5,806 yards and saw Claremont-M-S and Williams College tie among the top both totaling a 592.  Centre College who trailed the Bulldogs after Day 1 by four strokes was able to make up ground quickly and jumped the Maroon and Grey into 3rd (599).

Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) and Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) were identical on the weekend leading the Bulldogs by improving five spots between rounds as they finished in a tie for 9th.  They both shot the same scores going 76-74 (+6 - 150). 

Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) who was in a great position within the Top 3 after Round 1, was unable to keep the momentum across the final 18 holes as she would slip six spots into a tie for 9th with Jugar and Nicholson.  After an impressive 73 to open the classic she would then shoot a 77 (+6 -150).

Gabrielle Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) improved four shots from Day 1 going 78-74 (+8 – 152), which moved her up three spots into a tie for 15thIris Liu (Diamond Bar, CA) had the biggest jump out of any Bulldog going from 26th to 17th (9 Spots) after shooting an 81-74 (+11 – 155).  Her score wouldn't count those in the team total as she was playing as an individual.

Malia Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) also improved over the two rounds dropping three strokes from an 80 to a 77, but was unable to make up any ground on the field dropping three spots into 24th.                     

Redlands returns to the links on Saturday-Sunday, April 9-10 for the SCIAC No. 2 tournament being played at Industry Hills Golf Club.
