VENTURA, Calif. - The University of Redlands Women's Golf team got their 2021-22 season underway this week with a two-day event at the CA State Intercollegiate.  The Bulldogs finished 3^rd overall posting rounds of 293-290 (+7 | 583) and saw junior Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) take home the individual title.  

U of R sat in 3^rd after the first day posting a 293 and despite dropping three shots in round two and making up ground on the Sagehens and Bruins, couldn't complete the comeback.

Jugar led the Maroon and Grey improving two spots after being down three strokes in round one to shoot a 70-67 to win the individual title.  She needed a big finish and got it as she went -5 under over the final 18 holes to post a -7 under for the tournament as she went on to post a 137, three shots ahead of George Fox's Makensie Toole (70-70). 

The 67 for Jugar ties a record low in college tournaments, with her career record low being a 66. 

Iris Liu (Diamond Bar, CA) was the second finisher for the Bulldogs improving ten spots to finish in a tie for 7^th after she went 76-70 (+2 | 146).  Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) who sat in 6^th after Day 1 dropped into a tie for 11^th following scores of 72-76 (+4 | 148).

Gabrielle Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) wasn't far behind as she jumped two spots into a tie for 15^th.  She improved three strokes between both rounds to go 76-73 (+5 | 149).

Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) wasn't far behind, but dropped 12 spots into 25^th with a 75-77 (+8 | 152).  Malia Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) rounded out the scoring finishing in a tie for 31^st.  Despite improving a shot on Day 2, wasn't able to make a jump as she went 78-77 (+11 | 155).                   

The tournament, which was played at Olivas Links Golf Club, measuring at 5,813 yards included a full field.  Other teams that took part included George Fox University (1^st | 574), Pomona-Pitzer (2^nd | 577), Chapman University (4^th | 597), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (5^th | 602), UC Santa Cruz (6^th | 603), Cal Lutheran University (7^th | 611), Occidental College (8^th | 626), Westmont College (9^th | 642), Marymount University (10^th | 750), and the University of La Verne (11^th | 860).
