Bulldog Women's Golf Captures Fourth Place at NCAA Division III Championships

While improving each round of the tournament, the University of Redlands women's golf team completed a solid run at the 2021 NCAA Division III Championships in East Lansing, Michigan, on Friday by taking fourth place in the final team standings with a grand total of 1265 (325-319-315-306). 

First-year Iris Liu (Diamond Bark, CA) wrapped up an incredible national debut by remaining in third place on the individual leaderboard with a 307 over the 72 holes.  She signed her final scorecard of the postseason with a 77, which included birdies on holes #9 and #11. Overall, Liu tied for third among the tournament field on the par fours with an average score of 4.28.  She also landed in a tie-for-fourth on the par threes with an average of 3.06.  Furthermore, she recorded nine birdies and 37 pars over the four rounds.

Junior Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) moved into a tie for 18th among the final standings by shooting a 78 on Friday and earning a four-round total of 316.  She sank a seven-foot birdie putt on hole #16 before converting a downhill, 15-footer for birdie on #17.  Overall, she earned 37 pars and five birdies at the tournament. 

Sophomore Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) made an impressive final push on day four by firing off her best round of the tournament to climb 34 spots on the individual leaderboard.  With Friday's 71, she posted a final score of 319 to tie for 24th.  She began the day with a seven-foot birdie putt on hole #1 and finished the round with five birdies. 

First-year Gabrielle Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) also climbed the individual leaderboard for a fine finish to the week.  By entering the clubhouse with an 80, she ended up with a total of 327 to tie for 44th, which was a nine-spot improvement.  She earned 11 of her 38 pars in the final round.

Finally, first-year Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) made the most of her national tournament opportunity by earning a four-round score of 334 with today's 80 for her best of the championships.  She rallied 13 spots among the individual leaderboard to tie for 61st.  She tapped in a six-foot putt for birdie on hole #2 to highlight her round.

As a team, Redlands ranked among the top seven in average scores on par threes (3.46), par fours (4.52), and par fives (5.29).  In addition, the Bulldogs recorded 173 pars and the fourth-most birdies at the tournament with 26.
