No. 1 Bulldog Women's Golf Captures Wins at CLU Regals Invite

The top-ranked University of Redlands women's golf team notched another solid win at the CLU Regals Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, earning a score of 619 over two rounds at the Moorpark Country Club.  The Bulldogs prevailed over Biola University by 19 strokes and surpassed Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foes Cal Lutheran University (655) and Chapman University (664) by more than 35 strokes.

For the second tournament in a row, sophomore Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) paced the Maroon and Gray with her winning score of 151 (76-75).  She recorded two birdies and 27 pars for an incredibly steady performance.

Finishing only one stroke behind Jugar, junior Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) impressed in the second round by shaving off 12 strokes to shoot a tournament-low 70 on Tuesday.  With seven birdies that round, she moved up from tied-for-12th to second on the individual leaderboard.

First-year Gabrielle Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) and senior Annie Hay (University Place, WA) tied for eighth by signing their scorecards with 158s.  G. Kiger fired off an 81 and 77 with six birdies and 15 pars, while Hay produced identical rounds of 79 that included a total of four birdies and 20 pars.

In addition, first-year Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) came in 12th overall with a 36-round tally of 165 (81-84), as first-year Malia Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) entered the clubhouse with a total of 168 (85-83). 

Redlands looks forward to hosting the Bulldog Classic on Saturday, March 27, and Sunday, March 28, at The S Club at Rancho Mirage.
