No. 13 Redlands Women's Golf Takes Second Place at SCIAC Tournament No. 2

The No. 13 University of Redlands women's golf team fired off a season-low 292 on day two to finish second at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament No. 2 at the Olivia Links Golf Course. The Bulldogs registered an opening round of 304 and then made a strong push in the final 18 holes to earn a total of 596 for the fourth-best, two-round score in Redlands history.

Sophomore Annie Hay (University Place, WA) dominated the field to earn medalist honors with an impressive score of 142, which ties her for third in school history.  She logged consistent rounds of 72 and 70 for a five-shot lead. First-year Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) also impressed with her rounds of 75 and 72 for a total score of 147 to tie for second. 

Senior Keilee Bessho (La Canada, CA) knocked off three strokes on day two to tally scores of 77 and 74 for a total of 150, which placed her in a tie for eighth place. Sophomore Mariah Moon (La Quinta, CA) and first-year Dana Condon (Palm Desert, CA) mirrored each other with total scores of 158 in 20th place. They each improved six strokes with rounds of 82 and 76. Sophomore Makayla Sugidono (Scottsdale, AZ) completed the Bulldogs' second-place performance by signing her scorecard with a total of 162 off rounds of 80 and 82 to land in a five-way tie for 26th.

Redlands strives to carry its momentum into the three-day SCIAC Championship Tournament, which begins on Thursday, April 18, at the Brookside Golf Course.
