No. 13 U of R Women's Golf Ties for Second at Bulldog Classic

The University of Redlands women's golf team finished in a second-place tie with a score of 611 (300-311) at its annual Bulldog Classic, which was held on Monday and Tuesday at the S Club in Rancho Mirage.

Redlands gained tallies of 150 from sophomore Annie Hay (University Place, WA) and first-year Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) to tie for fourth on the leaderboard.  As a result, the talented tandem landed among the All-Tournament Team.  Hay provided consistent scores of 76 and 74, which included four birdies and 24 pars over the 36 holes.  Nicholson shot rounds of 70 and 80 while earning an even score on the par threes and a total of 21 pars.

Senior Keilee Bessho (La Canada, CA) ended in a tie for 11th place with a two-round total of 153 (75-78).  Over the course of the tournament, she led the field in par-five scoring with a minus-four average of 4.5.  She also tallied 21 pars and five birdies in a fine showing.

After sinking 22 pars in the two rounds, sophomore Mariah Moon (La Quinta, CA) entered the clubhouse with a 158 off back-to-back rounds of 79 to tie for 24th

Finally, first-year Dana Condon (Palm Desert, CA) registered three birdies en route to a 36-hole tally of 161 (80-81) as Redlands' fifth scorer.

In addition, sophomore Makayla Sugidono (Scottsdale, AZ) tied for 24th with 79s each day.  She finished with a minus-one average of 4.88 on the par fives, sank three birdies, and notched 21 pars.

On Monday, sophomore Emily Duncan (Winchester, CA) signed her scorecard with an 85 and then bettered that total on Tuesday with an 82.  

Redlands returns to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, by competing in the second conference tournament of the season, which takes place at Olivas Links in Ventura.
