Redlands Women’s Golf Shaves off 12 Strokes to Finish Fourth at CLU Regals Invitational

The University of Redlands women's golf team competed at the Cal Lutheran University Regals Invitational at Sunset Hills Country Club on Monday, March 12, and Tuesday, March 13. While shaving off 12 strokes on the second day, the Bulldogs registered a fourth-place finish with a 36-hole score of 678 amidst competitors from NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Senior Caroline Ordian (Palm Desert, CA) paced the Maroon and Gray with a tied-for-third-place performance of 155 (77-78).

First-year Annie Hay (University Place, WA) was next for the Bulldogs with a two-day score of 165 (83-82) for a tied-for-11th-place finish.

Rounding out the Maroon and Gray's scores, first-years Makayla Sugidono (Scottsdale, AZ), Emily Duncan (Murrieta, CA), and Elise Kiya (Palo Alto, CA) each entered the clubhouse with a better score on day two. Sugidono trimmed her first-day total by four strokes for a 176 (90-86), while Duncan bettered her first-day score by eight strokes for a two-day total of 182 (95-87). Kiya showed the greatest improvement on day two, as she eliminated nine strokes for a 185 (97-88).

Redlands faces a quick turnaround as it heads to Peoria, AZ, for the George Fox Westbrook Invitational. The tournament will take place on Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18 at Westbrook Village Golf Course.
