Sophomore Guard Alyssa Downs Nets Her First SCIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week Award

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) office released its weekly awards and sophomore guard Alyssa Downs (South San Francisco, CA) earned her first Offensive Athlete of the Week Award of her career.

Downs averaged 14.5 points while shooting 47.8% from the field and 53.8% on 7-for-13 shooting from the perimeter in a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs. In their 49-47 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, she dropped in 15 points with a 3-for-5 clip from downtown, to go along with five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. In the next 63-60 win against Caltech, she knocked down four three-pointers en route to 14 points and seven assists.

For the season, Downs leads the conference with 2.9 made three-pointers per game and is second in the SCIAC with a 42.1% from the perimeter. She also currently sits seventh in the conference with 14.5 points per game.
