U of R Track & Field Dominates Whittier, Pomona-Pitzer, and Cal Lutheran at SCIAC Dual No. 3

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track & Field teams dominated the competition Saturday during the final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) dual meet, which was hosted by Pomona-Pitzer.

The women swept Whittier College (104-55), Pomona-Pitzer (117-44), and Cal Lutheran (114-42) finishing the dual meet season perfect going 8-0 against the conference competition.  The men's team faced a couple of tough match-ups on the day but pulled out the sweep beating Whittier College (91-72), Pomona-Pitzer (90-72), and Cal Lutheran (130-31) to finish with a 7-1 dual meet record.    

Women

It was a strong day for the 11th ranked Division III women's team collecting twelve victories on the day.  Andrea Lyon (Danville, CA) took home a pair of wins in the 200m (24.28) and the 400m (56.60), breaking her own school record in the first event (200m). 

Isabella Glenn (Seattle, WA) added another two wins in the distance events taking home top times in the 800m (2:18.20) and the 1500m (4:46.47).  She is now No. 10 All-Time in the record books for the 800m.  Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) was the last Bulldog to win multiple events taking home the top times in the 100m Hurdles (15.48) and the 400m Hurdles (1:06.11).  She now ranks No. 5 All-Time in the University of Redlands record books in the 400m Hurdles.   

Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA) added a huge win in the Triple Jump posting a PR of an 11.77m, which moves her inside the Top 10 within Division III and No. 2 All-Time in the University of Redlands record books.  Alexis Wallace (Orangevale, CA) grabbed another win for the Maroon and Grey in her signature event the 5000m beating the second place finisher by ten seconds with a time of 19:23.53.

Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR) picked up more points for the Bulldogs in the High Jump winning the event with a 1.50m jump.  Ciara Aw (Seattle, WA) won the Long Jump with a jump of 5.56m and Noelle Chavez (Yucaipa, CA) would take home the top throw in the Discus with a 40.70m mark.    

The final win came via the 4x100 Relay team of Courtney O'Neal (Las Vegas, NV), Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA), Sydney Harness (Henderson, NV), and Lyon who bested the school record with a time of 46.67.  The previous record was set back in 2019 from the team of O'Neal, Albrecht, Bangou, and Kimble (46.74).

Men

The men totaled six wins on the day, four coming on the track and another two in the jumps. 

Cristian Megas (Palmdale, CA) had a day winning the 200m with a time of 21.69, which now places him No. 1 in SCIAC.  Jamir Jones (Fairfield, CA) took home the 400m title with a time of 49.16.  Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) continues to impress in the 800m winning the event by two seconds with a time of 1:53.33.  Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) took home top marks in the High Jump (1.90m), Owen Schmitz (Fremont, CA) would win the Triple Jump (13.32m) and the 4x400 Relay team of Hunter Greer (Wildomar, CA), Ronan Byrne (Portola Valley, CA), Jones, and Cargile would clock in with a time of 3:21.97, winning the event.
