U of R Track & Field Sends Distance Runners to Pomona-Pitzer Invite

POMONA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track & field team sent eight of their distance runners to the Pomona-Pitzer Invite Saturday to compete in both the 800m and 1500m events.

On the men's side four Bulldogs competed in the 800m led by Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) who clocked a winning time of 1:48.89 in the race, which now ranks him No. 1 in Division III this season, No. 2 in Division III SCIAC history, No. 12 in Division III history, all while at the same time holding the University of Redlands school record.   

Joining him was Riley Lathrop (Honolulu, HI) (10th – 1:54.90), Ronan Byrne (Portola Valley, CA) (18th – 1:56.54), and Aidan Strealy (Lake Oswego, OR) (34th – 1:59.67).

Another four Bulldogs competed on the women's side with three participating in the 800m and another in the 1500m.  Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) led the runners in the 800m event coming in 10th with a 2:19.38.  She was followed by Cece Matteson (Seattle, WA) (33rd – 2:32.41), and Abigail Johnson (Westborough, MA) (43rd – 2:43.98).  Isabella Glenn (Seattle, WA) took part in the 1500m and posted an 11th place finish with a time of 4:42.48.     

Redlands will send both Tucker Cargile (1500m) and Isabella Glenn (3000 Steeplechase) to the Brian Clay Invitational this week on April 13 and April 15, hosted by Azusa Pacific.  This Saturday, April 16 the Bulldogs will travel to Pomona-Pitzer to take part in their final SCIAC Dual Meet of the season.
