Women’s Track & Field ranks No. 6 in USTFCCCA Div. III National Rankings

USTFCCCA Division III National Rankings 

NEW ORLEANS – The first month of the Outdoor Track & Field season has come and gone and the University of Redlands Women's Track & Field team has made their mark earning a Division III National Ranking of No. 6 according to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Poll, which was released this week.

This marks the highest ranking for the program since 2019 when they climbed all the way up to No. 3.  The Maroon and Grey have a current rating index of a 97.25, which moves them into the polls for the first time this season ahead of St. Norbert (No. 7 – 96.71), Wartburg (No. 8 – 96.41), Johns Hopkins (No. 9 – 93.29), and Whittier (No. 10 – 81.04) who round out the Top 10.  UR is also one of three Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams within the Top 25 joining Claremont-M-S (No. 3) and Whittier College (No. 10).       

The USTFCCCA determines its ratings by calculating the teams' best performances of the high-caliber season so far in each event.

Redlands has thirteen student-athletes involved in both individual events and the relays who are ranked inside the Top 50 within the NCAA Division III National Rankings. 

For the track events Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA) comes in ranked No. 13 in the 100m (12.27) and No. 25 in the 200m (25.71).  Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) ranks No. 33 in the 800m (2:21.58).  Isabella Glenn (Seattle, WA) ranks No. 41 in the 5000m (18:26.28) and the 3,000m Steeplechase (11:16.53).  Alexis Wallace (Orangevale, CA) has proven to be one of the top 10,000m runners in the country ranking No. 4 in the event (38:26.25), Eleanor Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) has done damage in both the 100m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles, ranking No. 22 (15.29) and No. 21 (1:06.46), respectively.

In the field events, Ciara Aw (Seattle, WA) ranks No. 4 in the Long Jump (5.58m), Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA) ranks No. 30 in the Triple Jump (10.79m), Noelle Chavez (Yucaipa, CA) comes in No. 9 in the Discus (39.65m), and Leslie Sernaque Falcon (Concord, CA) ranks No. 43 in the Hammer (41.50m). 

Both relays have come in ranked in the Top 15 led by the 4x100 Relay Team of Ackerman, Sydney Harness (Henderson, NV), Andrea Lyon (Danville, CA), and Courtney O'Neal (Las Vegas, NV) who posted the fourth fastest time in the country with a 47.29.  Then the 4x400 Relay team of Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, CA), Bullock, Bachmeier, and Lyon rank No. 14 (4:06.49).      

Redlands gears up for a busy April beginning with the SCIAC No. 2 Dual Meet, tomorrow, Saturday, April 2 hosted by Occidental College.  The very next weekend, April 7-8 a contingent of athletes will head down to Tucson, AZ to compete in the Jim Click Multis, while the rest of the team will travel to Whittier College to participate in the Whittier Twilight Meet.  Then on Saturday, April 9 the team will compete at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite and will then finish off the month at SCIAC No. 3 (Hosted by Pomona-Pitzer) on April 16 and the SCIAC Championships on April 30 (Hosted by Whittier College).
