Track & Field Hosts Redlands Invitational | Total Eight Victories

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track & Field team hosted the annual Redlands Invitational Friday afternoon inside Ted Runner Stadium with a number of teams competing along with unattached/professional runners.

The Bulldogs collected eight victories on the evening, four of which came in the relays.  

Women

Isabella Glenn (Seattle, WA) started off the day winning the 3,000m run with a time of 10:34.96, but was pushed by teammate Alexis Wallace (Orangevale, CA) who finished 2nd with a 10:36.96.

Ciara Aw (Seattle, WA) took home the top mark in the Long Jump with a 5.58m, while Courtney O'Neal went 6th with a 5.00m.  Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA) who took 9th in the event with a 4.88m jump bounced back nicely in the Triple Jump winning the event with a 10.79m.  Christen Wiley (South San Francisco, CA) and Aw also competed taking 3rd (9.96m) and 4th (9.89m), respectively.

Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) had a strong day in the Hurdles finishing 3rd in the 100m with a 15.29 before coming back to take 2nd in the 400m (1:06.46).

Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA) competed in the 100m Dash and had a good finish behind Montana and Whittier going 3rd with a 12.27.  Sydney Harness (Henderson, NV) and O'Neal followed in 6th (12.71) and 7th (12.75), respectively, while Rebecca La Bad (Shingle Springs, CA) (13th – 13.19) and Sydney Holmes (Dublin, CA) (15th – 13.48) would round out the scoring.

First year Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) put together a nice charge in the 800m moving up into 3rd with a 2:23.88, while Cece Matteson (Seattle, WA) would go 6th with a 2:31.47.  Ackerman returned in the 200m to take 2nd with a time of 25.71, while Harness would go 6th (26.73) and La Bad/Holmes in 14th and 15th

Leslie Sernaque Falcon (Concord, CA) led the throws taking 5th in the Hammer with a 41.50m mark, while Grace Beaty (Upland, CA) would come in 7th (38.91m).  Other scorers included Noelle Chavez (Yucaipa, CA) (12th – 34.21m) and Katelyn Sheldon (Port Angeles, WA) (14th – 30.77m).  Timony Sherry (Shoreline, WA) and Aw both competed in the Javelin with Sherry taking 7th (22.55m) and Aw 9th (17.10m).

Savannah Engler (Petaluma, CA) competed in the Pole Vault for the Bulldogs finishing 10th with a 2.90m mark.  Sherry returned in the Shot Put finishing 8th (10.84m), while Chavez would finish 12th (10.01m).  Chavez came back strong in the Discus, her main event posting a 39.65m throw that put her 4th.  Sherry and Falcon Sernaque followed in 14th and 16th respectively.

The other two big finishes came in the relays.  The 4 x 100 Relay occurred early with the 'A' team of Ackerman, Adams, Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR), and Andrea Lyon (Danville, CA) taking the win with a time of 47.29, which now places them with the top time in the NCAA Division National rankings.  Then to end the evening the Bulldogs put together six teams to go against each other in the 4x400 Relay with the 'E' team taking home the top time of 4:31.51.                                           

Men   

The Men's 4 x 100 Relay team, consisting of Jamir Jones (Fairfield, CA), Cooper Malerstein (Huntington Beach, CA), Cristian Megas (Palmdale, CA), and Markelle Raymond-Hill highlighted the day winning the event with a 41.82, which moves them to No. 3 in the NCAA Division III National Rankings.  This led to other wins by the 'G' team in the 4x400 Relay (3:40.91), and Owen Schmitz (Fremont, CA) in the Triple Jump (13.52m).

Brandon Farnsworth (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) started the day off with a 10th place finish in the 1500m run with a time of 4:19.44.  Gael Orozco (Claremont, CA) and Allyn Asberry-Blanco (Orange County, NY) would combine to go 6th (16.70) and 9th (17.19), respectively in the 100 Hurdles.

Megas and Raymond-Hill would go 4-5 in the 100m dash with times of 10.75 and 10.76.  Cooper Malerstein (Huntington Beach, CA) would go 12th (11.17) and Joseph Pang (Henderson, NV) in 22nd (11.52).

Riley Lathrop (Honolulu, HI) had a nice run in the 800m finishing 2nd with a 1:55.52 followed by Aidan Strealy (Lake Oswego, OR) (6th – 1:58.02) and Ronan Byrne (Portola Valley, CA) (8th – 1:58.72).  Orozco returned in the 400 Hurdles finishing 6th with a 1:00.51.  Megas competed in the 200m dash finishing 2nd with a 21.81, while Jones would post a 22.71 for 6th.

Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) got his first action on the day in the Javelin taking 5th with a throw of 39.68m, while Sebastian Saucedo (Modesto, CA) and Schmitz would finish 9th and 11th.  Huset also competed in the Long Jump leading the Bulldogs with a 5th place finish (6.35m), while Cameron LaRiccia (San Diego, CA) (13th – 5.95m), Jack Gordon (Las Vegas, NV) (17th – 5.70m), and Steven Nakamura (San Jose, CA) (18th – 5.67m) would follow.

Gordon, Corte Peterson (Lafayette, CA), and Michael Meheen (Carmel, CA) would go 4-5-6 in the Pole Vault all coming in with marks of 4.10m.

Tyler Davies (Lake Forest, CA) led the throws taking 8th in the Shot Put (12.79m) and 10th in the Discus (34.76m).  He was joined by Wyatt Gibson who finished 13th (Shot Put) and 18th (Discus).  Joining Schmitz in the Triple Jump was Asberry-Blanco who finished 4th (12.88m) and LaRiccia in 9th (11.73m).  Schmitz also competed in the High Jump and took 7th (1.70m).      

Redlands gears up for the second SCIAC Multi-Dual, which will take place Saturday, April 2, hosted by Occidental.
