Andrea Lyon named USTFCCCA West Region Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS - Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season were announced this past week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season.

Senior sprinter Andrea Lyon (Danville, CA) represented the University of Redlands Track and Field team on the women's side being named the USTFCCCA West Region Athlete of the Year for the first time in her career. 

What an Indoor Track and Field season she had qualifying for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships in the 400m.  She posted the sixth fastest time in Division III heading into the Championships (57.29) where she finished 11th overall with a time of 57.90.

During the indoor season Lyon competed in two invites.  At the BU Last Chance Meet in Boston, MA she put up a 56.53, placing her 8th overall in the 400m, which was a PR.  She also competed at the Ron Mann Classic again in the 400m placing 6th overall with a time of 59.55.
