Bulldog Quintet Represents Redlands Track & Field on Day One of National Meet

Five members of the University of Redlands women's track & field team took on the top competition in the nation at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The 4x100 Relay of senior Andrea Lyon (Danville, CA), junior Courtney O'Neal (Las Vegas, NV), sophomore Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA), and first-year Sydney Harness (Henderson, NV) completed the preliminary race in fifth place in heat two and 12th place overall with a time of 48.04.  Although they will not advance to Saturday's final, they finished two spots higher than their seed of 14th for a fine showing.

In addition, senior Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR) completed the first four events of the Heptathlon with 2,624 points for 15th in the standings, with three events remaining.  Her best finish of the day came in the 200 Meters, which was her final event on Thursday.  She ran the sprint in 25.82 for fourth place, just 0.45 off the winner.  Earlier, she posted a height of 4' 9 ¾" in the High Jump to go along with a heave of 32' 1 ½" in the Shot Put.  On the track, she ran a 16.06 in the 100 Hurdles to complement her finish in the 200.

Friday's action continues with Albrecht competing in the Long Jump at 8:30 a.m. PDT, followed by the Javelin at 9:15 a.m. and the 800 at 11:45 a.m.  At 12 noon, Lyon vies for a spot in the final of the 400.
