Ackerman and Dolen Win SCIAC Athletes of the Week for Track & Field

On the heels of capturing the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship, the University of Redlands women's track & field team also hauled in both of this week's athlete-of-the-week awards.  Sophomore sprinter Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA) impressed in the track events, while senior jumper Brenna Dolen (Redlands, CA) gained the honor for field events.

Ackerman helped Redlands seal the team title by winning two individual events and contributing to the gold-medal performances of both relays.  She clocked a time of 12.32 in the 100m Dash before going 25.46 in the 200m to land atop the podium in each event.  Her mark in the shortest sprint places her among the top-10 list at Redlands and fifth in Division III.  She currently ranks fourth in the country in the 200.  Ackerman ran on the first-place 4x100m Relay that secured a time of 47.63 for the second-best in Bulldog history and the fastest in Division III this season.  Finally, her contributions in the 4x400m Relay helped the winning quartet cross the finish line in 4:08.65.

Dolen snagged solid points in Redlands' championship performance by winning both horizontal jumps.  In the Long Jump, she reached a mark of 17' 10 ¼", which lands her atop the NCAA Division III performance list for the current outdoor season.  Dolen also tallied a distance of 37' 4 ½" in the Triple Jump to better the competition by nearly five feet.  Furthermore, she took second in the Javelin Throw with a heave of 104' 5".

The Bulldog track & field teams look forward to hosting the Redlands Final Qualifier on Wednesday, May 19, and Thursday, May 20, on Ashel Cunningham Track.
