Bulldog Track & Field Garners USTFCCCA Individual and Team Academic Awards

The University of Redlands' outstanding representation among the various academic awards continues with the recent announcement of the 2020 U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team and Individual awards.

The Bulldog men's and women's track & field squads each landed among the 359 NCAA Division III selections for All-Academic Teams that exceeded the minimum 3.10 GPA requirement.  Among the 150 men's teams to be recognized, the Bulldogs joined forces for a combined GPA of 3.44, while the Redlands women registered a collective 3.52 mark as one of 209 programs to be honored.

In addition, 325 men and 477 women received the individual honor for athletic success at the national level while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better.  Redlands' eight individual recipients, which included six women and two men, either finished the indoor season ranked in the top 50 for an individual event, were invited to the 2020 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, or were among the top 35 for a relay in NCAA Division III during the 2020 season.

Senior Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) and junior Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR) garner their third nod as USTFCCCA All-Academic selections. Kimble was set to compete at indoor nationals in the Pentathlon with a qualifying score of 3,432. She currently sits ninth in the nation among all Division III. She was also recently named the West Region Female Field Athlete of the Year and an Indoor All-American. Albrecht sits 29th in the country in the Pentathlon with a score of 3,195, which she set at the Mountain T Invitational in Flagstaff, AZ.

Senior Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) represents the Bulldogs among the elite list in back-to-back years. Fields gains this season's honor as the third woman in the nation in the 60 Hurdles with a time of 8.75. She also was named the West Region Female Track Athlete of the Year, an Indoor All-American, and Redlands' top senior scholar-athlete of the year. She is one of two Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) representatives for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Senior Maria Ramirez (Orange, CA), junior Brenna Dolen (Redlands, CA), and first-year Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA) secure their inaugural USTFCCCA All-Academic awards to complete the solid showing for the Redlands women's team.  Ramirez earned this recognition by ranking in the top 50 in the 5,000 Meters with a time of 17:54.41, which came at the Henry BU Valentine Meet in Boston. Dolen also makes her first appearance on the scholarly list as the 17th-ranked woman in the Triple Jump. She registered a leap of 38'2" at the Mountain T Invitational, which set a new indoor school record, and recently became an Indoor All-American. Furthermore, Ackerman enjoyed a breakout rookie season with the Bulldogs, as she finished the 2020 campaign among the top 50 in the 60 Meters. She takes the 23rd spot in the country with a quick time of 7.75. Dolen and Ackerman were both set to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships before they were cancelled.

For the men, junior Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) reels in this award for the third time in his career. Cargile put together another solid campaign that culminated in the 10th-best mark in Division III in the 800 Meters by stopping the clock at 1:53.43, which also represents a new SCIAC record. In addition to that, he ran the 33rd-best Mile time of 4:15.61.

Finally, senior Tyler Lufkin (Yucaipa, CA) hauls in his second-consecutive All-Academic accolade. Lufkin impressed at the Mountain T Invitational in the Decathlon with a score of 4,458 to rank in the top 50 in the country.
