U of R Track & Field Makes Late-Season Push at Oxy Invite

The University of Redlands track & field team competed at the high-caliber Oxy Invitational on Saturday in Eagle Rock.  The Bulldogs gained solid results that included multiple career-best efforts.

For the women, sophomore Brenna Dolen (Redlands, CA) tied her best mark in the Long Jump by soaring to a distance of 17' 5 ¼", which equals her leap from the recent Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships.

Senior Ellie Ramsey (Waterbury, VT) also reset her personal standard with an impressive outing in the 3000 Steeplechase.  She ran the race in 11:07.28 to improve upon her career-best time by nearly six seconds.

In addition, graduate student Reyna Ta'amu (Lakewood, CA) continues to shine in the Shot Put, as she finished fifth on Saturday with a heave of 47' 7".  Junior Katie Gonzalez (San Gabriel, CA) impressed in the Hammer Throw with by reaching a distance of 146' 7" for eighth place.  She also registered a mark of 125' 5" in the Discus Throw.

The 4x100 Relay of first-year Courtney O'Neal (Atlanta, GA), sophomore Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR), first-year Annick Bangou (Redlands, CA), and junior Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) put together a time of 47.62 to finish sixth at the meet.

The men gained another career-best performance from sophomore Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO), who ran the 800 Meters in a blistering time of 1:50.27 for a 1.3-second improvement and a fifth-place showing.

The 4x100 Relay of senior Luke Bohlinger (Mercer Island, WA), and sophomores Domanick Murray (Palm Springs, CA), Cooper Malerstein (Huntington Beach, CA), and MJ Wheeler (St. Louis, MO) fired off a third-place time of 41.67.    Wheeler also reached a mark of 21' 9" in the Long Jump for 11th place.

Senior Matthew Hayashi (Hacienda Heights, CA) scored an eighth-place distance of 45' 5 ¾" in the Shot Put, while first-year Dylan Fernholz-Hartman also took eighth in the 110 Hurdles by crossing the finish line in 15.93.

The Bulldogs look forward to hosting the Redlands Final Qualifier on Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16, on Ashel Cunningham Track.
