U of R Women's Track & Field Climbs to a Program-Best Third in the Nation

After bouncing between Nos. 4 and 5, the University of Redlands women's track & field team made history by climbing to No. 3 in NCAA Division III, as determined by the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) most current rating index, which was announced on Tuesday.  With 124.67 points, the Bulldogs elevated two spots from the previous top-25 list to third in the nation.

The USTFCCCA determines its ratings by calculating the teams' best performances of the high-caliber season so far in each event.

Redlands gains significant points from the top-ranked showings of graduate student Reyna Ta'amu (Lakewood, CA) and junior Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV).  Ta'amu leads the nation in the Shot Put (48' ¾"), while Fields ranks first in the 100 Hurdles (14.18) and second in the 400 Hurdles (1:01.77).  Junior Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) closely follows in second in the 100 Hurdles (14.19) and adds a strong ranking at sixth in the Heptathlon (4,608 points).  Kimble also sits 14th in the 100 Meters with a time of 12.21.

The Maroon and Gray represents the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) as the only women's team among the top 25.

Redlands' men sit 16th in the national ratings with 59.97 points.  Sophomore Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) owns the second-fastest time in the 800 Meters (1:51.30), while junior Maliq Champion (Beaumont, CA) ranks third in the nation in the 200 Meters (21.10).
