Bulldogs Impress with 19 All-Region Awards for Indoor Track & Field

15 Bulldogs combined for 19 All-Region awards

It was announced earlier today by the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) that the University of Redlands hauled in 19 All-Region awards for NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field.  Six Bulldog women were represented among their seven honors, while nine Redlands men gained a total of 12 distinctions.

Overall, the top-5 individuals in each event and the top-3 relays from each region receive this accolade.  This marks the third year for All-Region awards in NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field.

For the women, senior Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) leads the region in the High Jump with a mark of 5' 5" and receives this honor for the third year in a row.

Sophomore Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) owns the best mark in the West in the 60 Hurdles at 8.91 and looks forward to representing the Bulldogs at the upcoming NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, AL.  She repeats as an All-Region selection following the same award as a first-year member of the Redlands track & field team.

Sophomore Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) reels in two All-Region nods for her impressive marks in the 60 Hurdles and Pentathlon.  She currently sits third in both events, with a time of 9.14 in the 60 Hurdles and a score of 3,013 in the Pentathlon.  This is Kimble's third such award following the honor in 2017 for the hurdles.

Junior Kara Romani (Sacramento, CA) closely follows Kimble in the regional rankings for Pentathlon at fourth with a score of 2,941.  This is Romani's fourth All-Region award in her three-year career.

In addition, senior Mandy Widen (Vail, AZ) and sophomore Gabriella Gould (Bellingham, WA) each represent the Bulldogs among the best pole-vaulters in the West Region.  Widen, who becomes a three-time All-Region selection, sits first with a height of 12' ½", while Gould ranks third at 10' 6 ¾" with her first indoor award.

For the men, senior Afari La-Anyane (Morgan Hill, CA) earns three All-Region awards with outstanding marks to bring his career total to four. He currently owns the second-fastest time in the 60 Hurdles at 8.47 and ranks second in the Heptathlon with 4,299 points.  Finally, La-Anyane sits fifth in the High Jump with a height of 5' 10 ¾".

En route to earning his inaugural All-Region award, first-year Jason Waters (Troutdale, OR) put together the fourth-highest score in the Heptathlon at 3,771 points as well.

Furthermore, junior Luke Bohlinger leads the West with a time of 7.02 in the 60 Meters to go along with the fifth-fastest mark in the 200 at 22.53 to become a three-time All-Region selection.

Sophomores Mykel Campos (Dinuba, CA) and Maliq Champion (Beaumont, CA) each rank third in their respective jumps to land on the All-Region team.  Campos hit a mark of 43' 2 ¼" in the Triple Jump to repeat as an honoree, while Champion cleared a height of 6' 4 ¾" to earn his first indoor award.

Finally, the 4x400 Relay of junior Nick Burchett (Gold River, CA), first-year Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO), first-year Domanick Murray (Palm Springs, CA), and sophomore Jordan Washecheck (Tulsa, OK) ranks second in the West so the members each receive this regional distinction for the first time.
