Amidst windy conditions in Geneva, OH, five Bulldog student-athletes took on the competition on day two of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Spire Institute.

Highlighting Friday's action, senior Alison Smith (McKinleyville, CA) punched her ticket to the final of the 100 Hurdles by winning her heat with a time of 14.18.  Freshman Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) also competed in the event by running a solid time of 15.19 in her inaugural national meet. Unfortunately, she did not make the cut for Saturday's finals.

Throughout the day, Smith also finished out the final three events of the Heptathlon.  She began the day by unleashing a leap of 17' 2 ¾" in the Long Jump before recording a heave of 120' 4" in the Javelin.  Following her outstanding effort in the 100 Hurdles, Smith returned to the track a short time later to cap off the Heptathlon with the 800 Meters.  She registered a time of 2:47.20. After the two, long days of competition, Smith finished ninth out of 22 competitors in the Heptathlon with a grand total of 4,545 points.

Furthermore, junior Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) was the first Bulldog to compete on Friday, as she successfully cleared heights at 5' 0", 5' 1 ¾", and 5' 3 ¾" in the High Jump, resulting in a tie for 16th place.

While competing in her first-ever NCAA Championships, junior Reyna Ta'amu (Lakewood, CA) launched a heave of 40' 1 ½" in the Shot Put for 22nd place.

Last, but certainly not least, sophomore Luke Bohlinger (Mercer Island, WA) represented the men's team by competing in the 100 Meters. He ran a 16th-place time of 10.835 for a nice showing in his inaugural appearance at nationals.

The Bulldogs look forward to cheering on Smith, freshman Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA), senior Jasmine Ramos (Santa Fe Springs, CA), and sophomore Kara Romani (Sacramento, CA) in the 4 x 100 Relay on Saturday at approximately 9:05 a.m. PT.  Smith also competes in the 100 Hurdles at 9:50 a.m. PT.
