Bulldog Track & Field Notches Quality Marks at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

The University of Redlands men's and women's track & field teams traveled to nearby Claremont for the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday.  Overall, the Bulldogs made the most of the fierce competition with quality marks in a variety of events.

Freshman Kaylee Jorgensen (Claremont, CA) fired off the fastest time of her young career in the 800 Meters, clocking in at 2:19.44 to finish 19th overall.

Junior Lauren Roberts (Portland, OR) also improved upon her personal standard in the 5000 Meters by crossing the finish line in 18:09.65, which was more than 30 seconds faster than her previous best.  She finished seventh overall among the competitive race.

Freshman Mandy Widen (Vail, AZ) continued to impress in the Pole Vault, clearing a new career-best height of 11' 1 ¾" to exceed her personal standard in back-to-back weeks.  She finished fifth at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite. 

Furthermore, sophomore Alison Smith (McKinleyville, CA) completed the 100 Hurdles in 15.28, which placed her among the top 10 at the meet in ninth place.

For the men, junior Ian Lee (Las Vegas, NV) added another career-best time in the 3000 Steeplechase, as he shaved off nine seconds to finish fifth with a mark of 9:50.42.

In addition, sophomore Myles Speegle (Castro Valley, CA) clocked a time of 10.89 in the 100 Meters to finish 10th overall in a strong outing. 

Seniors Darren Centi (Auburn, CA) and Antwain Morgan (Granada Hills, CA) represented Redlands well in the 400 Meters, as the duo unleashed solid times to finish among the race's top 10.  Centi ran the full lap in 48.11 for sixth place, while Morgan bettered his career-best with a time of 49.05 to come in ninth.  Finally, sophomore Auston Tribble (Glenwood Springs, CO) improved upon his personal standard with a time of 49.80 in the same race, taking 12th overall.

Finally, senior Dominic Lopez (Las Vegas, NV) provided a fifth-place time of 1:52.48 in the 800 Meters, as freshman Afari La-Anyane (Morgan Hills, CA) crossed the finish line in the 110 Hurdles in 15.50 to take 10th.

Redlands heads to Occidental College for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Multi-Dual No. 3 on Saturday, April 11, at 9:30 a.m.
