Lopez Shines as Bulldog Track & Field Competes at Oxy Distance Carnival

With a number of runners registering career-best times, the University of Redlands track and field teams competed at the Oxy Distance Carnival on Friday evening in Eagle Rock.  Junior Dominic Lopez (Las Vegas, NV) shined for the Bulldog men, while a number of U of R women put together impressive races as well.

In the men's 800 Meters, Lopez ran against some of the top competition in the country from the collegiate and non-collegiate ranks, and while finishing as the top Division III racer at the meet, he uncorked a career-best time of 1:53.53 for sixth place overall among nearly 100 competitors.

Fellow junior Chris Bolt (Reno, NV) also put together a strong showing on the evening, crossing the finish line in the 1500 Meters in a career-best time of 4:03.07 for 23rd place.  He then followed that performance up with another career-best time, this time in the 5000 Meters (15:26.97) for 49th overall.

In the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, sophomore Ian Lee (Las Vegas, NV) clocked in a career-best mark for the Bulldogs, coming in as the top U of R runner with a quick time of 10:05.55 for 18th place.

On the women's side, freshman Jessika Snincsak (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) added to the list of Bulldogs who were tallying career-best marks, as in the 800 Meters, she took 31st overall with a fantastic time of 2:27.45.

Senior Vanessa Anchondo (Oceanside, CA) closed out the phenomenal day for Redlands with another career-best mark as she crossed the finish line in the 5000 Meters in 18:37.97 for 35th place at the meet.

The Maroon and Gray competes again on Friday, March 21, when it hosts the Redlands Invitational.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.  For complete details of the meet, please visit the event page.
