Sydney Patterson wraps up NCAA Division III Diving West Regional

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Sophomore Diver Sydney Patterson (Hilo, HI) of the University of Redlands Swimming & Diving team wrapped up the two-day NCAA Division III Diving West Regional in San Antonio, TX at Trinity University.

Patterson competed on both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter boards and was a participant in the regional for the first time in her career.

On Day 1 she competed in the 1-Meter finishing 15th overall with a score of 350.20.  The highlight of the day was her "voluntary list" (first five dives), which accumulated 171 points, which would have placed her 2nd in the field.  Unfortunately she under-twisted on her last dive (incorrect dive), which dropped her from 6th to 15th.  Her six dives had a difficulty degree of 22.00 and she was able to beat out Sophia Wojdylo (16th – Grinnell College), Gabrielle Fulk (17th – Trinity University), Victoria Nguyen (18th – Trinity University), and Eleanor Mackey (19th – Pomona-Pitzer).

Wrapping up the event Patterson competed on the 3-Meter and was unable to gain any momentum finishing in 17th with a 322.50.  Her six dives had a degree difficulty of 22.90 and she was able to beat out Megan Norris (18th – Coe College).

On the year Patterson was named the SCIAC Diver of the Week three times and took home 2nd Place honors at the SCIAC Diving Championships on both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter boards, collecting All-SCIAC honors in both.
