Sydney Patterson Concludes SCIAC Diving Championships | Places 2nd in 1-Meter

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – University of Redlands Sophomore Diver Sydney Patterson (Hilo, HI) completed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Diving Championships Sunday with a 2nd Place finish on the 1-Meter.

After posting a 424.35 in the Prelims, which put her 2nd overall in the field, Patterson came out strong in the finals totaling a 424.00 with her dives combining for a 22.00 degree of difficulty.

She was edged out by No. 1 seed Ruby Epstein (Pomona-Pitzer) but was able to beat No. 3 Isabella Doud (3rd – Claremont-M-S), Makenna Parkinson (Claremont-M-S), Clara Dearden (Occidental College), Eleanor Mackey (6th – Pomona-Pitzer), Mckenzie Abbott (7th – Chapman), Sydney Rabuchin (8th – Chapman), and Alexis Romero (9th – Claremont-M-S).

Sydney who hit a pair of NCAA Division III West Regional Qualifying Marks this season now prepares for the two-day event set to take place in Trinity, TX on February 25-26.  She will compete in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter dives.    

The swimming portion of the SCIAC Championships will take place Wednesday-Saturday, February 16-19 at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center in La Mirada, Calif. and hosted by Chapman.
