The University of Redlands swimming teams took to the pool on the first of the four-day Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Swimming Championships on Thursday night at the Brenda Villa Aquatic Center in Commerce. The Maroon and Gray men's team sits in third with 137 total points, and the women's team finished the relay section with 140 points for fourth place.

The men began the day with a fourth-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay by first-year Blake Eddow (Corona, CA), junior Eric Forbes (Ladera Ranch, CA), senior Matt Skinner (Lakewood, CO), and junior Jack McCormick (Santa Rosa, CA) with a time of 1:34.88.

Eddow went on to join junior Raf Zasas (Johannesburg, South Africa), senior Michael Talag (Lakewood, CO), and sophomore Samuel Ayers (Orinda, CA) for another fourth-place finish in the 800 Free Relay, clocking in at 6:51.79 to end the evening.

On the women's side, sophomore Sydney Nakagawa (Vancouver, WA), senior Julia Hagenbaumer (Naperville, IL), sophomore Makenna Parenti (Rocklin, CA), and junior Olivia Cano (Dublin, CA) earned a podium finish with a third-place time of 1:45.74 in the 200 Medley Relay, over five seconds faster than their seed time. This quick and impressive time also reset the Redlands record for the fastest 200 Medley Relay in school history.
